Women's Ministry: Projects
2006 – 2008 WWAM Project – A Heart for Zambia
The goal for the 2006-08 WWAM project is to provide funds to improve
and expand the Nyamphande Orphanage near Lusaka, Zambia, in central
Africa. The " Nyamphande Miracle Village" has operated since 1998
as part of Church of God World Missions. It is directed by Bishop
John Mambo, former overseer of Zambia, and presently serves over
700 children.
The current project will provide additional dormitories to house
more children, additional classrooms to accommodate more students,
specialized classrooms to teach high school students, and staff
housing to serve the needs of additional teachers and workers.
Nyamphande Orphanage is providing children an environment in which
to survive. They are being housed, fed, educated, and discipled.
The new facilities will allow even more orphaned and abandoned children
to survive and thrive. Nyamphande is in the "bush" about 40 miles
from the city of Lusaka. Almost 90% of the population lives below
the poverty level. Proper health care is difficult to obtain. According
to UNAIDS, 650,000 children in Zambia have been orphaned by AIDS.
By 2010, one out of every four Zambian children is expected to be
orphaned. Malnutrition remains a major cause of death and illness
in children under five because of contaminated water and chronic
food shortages. Your donation will help reclaim a childhood. Give
Zambia's children permission to dream.
